Board Director Opportunity: AuDHD Council of Australia

The Position

The Board of AuDHD Council of Australia governs the Company to best meet its strategic directions. The Board maintains appropriate governance structures and accountability measures to ensure the Company remains in a strong position into the future. As the AuDHD Council of Australia is a company limited by guarantee, the Board ensures relevant regulatory and statutory requirements are observed and adhered to in the Company's operations.

To be effective, a Board needs the right group of people with an appropriate mix of skills, knowledge, diversity and experience — including qualifications, professional backgrounds, and industry experience — that fits with AuDHD Council's objectives and strategic goals.

The role of the Board is to ensure the AuDHD Council of Australia best meets its strategic directions, legal and fiduciary obligations, and that the Company remains in a strong position into the future.

An AuDHD Council Board Director is required to attend monthly meetings in the short-term, moving to quarterly over time. Some interstate travel is anticipated; there is at least one face-to-face meeting per year with other meetings held online. In addition, it may be necessary to take part in ad hoc online meetings or participate in out-of-session Board decisions.

Board Composition

The Board's aim is to have a diverse skillset across its membership. It considers required competencies annually and support is available to build the competency of individual Directors and the Board as a whole — through a formal Board induction program, ongoing support from the Company Secretary, and Board training and information sessions.

The number of Directors on the Board must not be less than three and no more than seven. The Board should consist of at least one Elected Director and up to six Board Appointed Directors. Elected Directors are elected by the Voting members of the Council through the Annual General Meeting Board Nomination and Voting process. This volunteer position will be a Board Appointed Director. Ideally you would offer specific industry expertise in policy and advocacy and/or marketing communications.

The AuDHD Council of Australia is a recently formed national body focused on advocacy and systemic change while empowering and supporting individuals with co-occurring Autism and ADHD to thrive in the workplace.

Our mission is to improve employment access, retention, and career sustainability for people with co-occurring Autism and ADHD by influencing workforce policy, employer practice, and professional membership structures. Our purpose is to represent professionals with AuDHD from the time they enter the workforce, all the way through their career, and into leadership positions — addressing structural barriers and helping build environments where our members can thrive.
