Accessibility Statement
The AuDHD Council of Australia is committed to making this website accessible to everyone — especially members of the AuDHD community, for whom digital accessibility matters more than most.
Our commitment
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those with sensory, cognitive, and motor differences.
We take this commitment seriously because our members include people with autism, ADHD, and related sensory and cognitive differences for whom inaccessible web design causes real barriers. We welcome feedback and treat accessibility issues as bugs, not enhancements.
What we do
Keyboard navigation
Every page, link, button, and form can be used with a keyboard alone. Tab order is logical and focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements.
Colour contrast
Text and interactive elements meet or exceed the 4.5:1 contrast ratio required by WCAG 2.1 AA. Colour is never the only way information is conveyed.
Resizable text
You can increase text size to 200% in your browser or device settings without losing content or function. Pinch-to-zoom is not restricted on mobile.
Semantic structure
Pages use appropriate heading hierarchies, landmark regions (header, main, nav, footer), and ARIA labels to support screen reader and keyboard navigation.
Alternative text
Meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are hidden from assistive technology so screen reader users are not read irrelevant content.
Known limitations
We are continuously improving accessibility. The following limitations are known and being worked on:
PDF documents
Our governance documents (Privacy Policy, Membership Policy, Code of Conduct) are currently only available as PDFs. These may not be fully accessible to screen reader users. If you need an accessible version of any document, please contact us and we will provide one.
CMS-managed content
News posts, event listings, and resource articles are published through a content management system. We aim to include alt text and accessible formatting, but cannot guarantee this for all content at all times. If you find an inaccessible piece of content, please let us know.
Embedded video
Where third-party video is embedded (such as YouTube), we rely on the platform's own accessibility features. We encourage the use of auto-captions and provide direct links so you can view content on the platform itself, where accessibility settings may be more familiar.
Motion and animation
The site uses subtle entrance animations on scroll. If you have enabled Reduce Motion in your device or OS accessibility settings, the site respects this preference and suppresses animations.

Technical notes
This site is built with React and rendered as a single-page application with server-side pre-rendering of key pages. Interactive components such as accordions, modals, and navigation menus use Radix UI, which is designed to meet WAI-ARIA authoring practice guidelines.
FAQ answers are rendered into the page HTML and hidden with CSS, so they are available to search engines and assistive technology regardless of accordion state.
We test using VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), NVDA (Windows), and keyboard-only navigation, as well as automated checks.
